The stage is set for the return of one of the most revered culinary competitions in the world

Celebrated globally as the pinnacle of gastronomic artistry, Bocuse d'Or is more than a competition, it is
a tribute to the passion, precision and innovation that defines great culinary talent
This year's national selection will be held on 27th July 2025 at the William Angliss Institute, Malabe,
culminating in a prestigious Awards Ceremony & Gala Dinner at Cinnamon Life. Here, Sri Lanka's most
promising culinary professionals will compete for the honour of representing the nation at Bocuse d'or
Asua 2026 and potentially, the world finals in Lyon, France, in 2027.
"This is a defining event in Sri Lanka's culinary journey," said Dilhan C. Fernando, Tea Grower & Dilmah
Chairman. "Bocuse d'Or Sri Lanka is not merely a showcase of great food and drink, it is a celebration of
Sri Lankan talent and creativity. As we felicitate 40 years of Dilmah this year, we are proud to have been
involved with Bocuse d'Or since its inception in Sri Lanka."
Chef Rohan Fernandopulle, President of Bocuse d'Or Sri Lanka, added, "Our chefs are ready to take the
worid stage This competition gives them the platform to express their identity through skill and
technique.
Since its inception in 2011, Bocuse d'Or Sri Lanka has emerged as a crucible for culinary talent
ambition, artistry and tradition are reimagined through a contemporary lens. Taking place every two
years, the 2025 edition is poised to be more than a competition; it is a celebration of Sri Lanka's evolving
gastronomic identity, where Ceylon tea, heritage ingredients and bold culinary voices converge on a
worid-class stage.
A distinguished panel of international and local culinary experts will preside over the cornpetition,
bringing global insight and rigorous standards to the Sri Lankan kitchen. The overseas judges include
Chet Daniel Schade of Gernany, a renowned educator and judge with deep expertise from the German
culinary federation, Chef Frank Widmann, also from Germany, celebrated for his innovation, precision
and high stanndards in international cuisine; Chef Alan Orreal from the UAE, an acclaimed mentor and
CuinarY showman whose career spans Asia and the Middle East, and Chef Michael Saelen of Belgium, a
Seasoned Bocuse d'Or judge and champion of European fine dining. Joining them are Sr Lanka's own
kitchen judges: Wasaritha PeiriS, a veteran chef and respected mentor in culinary training, Reza Deen,
Known for his sharp eye and dedication to discipline in the kitchen, Saman Wijerathne, a leading figure
in S Lanka's hGtel culrary scene with decades of experience, and Janaka Sampath Weerakoon, an
