St. Joseph's College, Colombo, which has been
in the forefront of schools rugby officially
launched its 2025 rugby season with a special
ceremony at Jetwing Colombo 7 on Wednesday
April 9. The event highlighted the key sponsors
who will support the "Saints" of Darley Road
during this year's Dialog Inter-Schools Rugby
Season.The Josephians were runners up of the
Dialog A Division league in 2022 and won the
schools knock ou title in 2017 beating
Isipathana in the final
The Josephian rugby team has built a proud
legacy of excellence and sportsmanship over
recent years, and as they prepare for another
competitive season, expectations are high. The
team is once again aiming for top honours, with
a determined squad eager to continue their
winning ways.
This year, St. Joseph's College will have Acorn
Group as the Main Sponsor for the season.
Acorn Group, a prominent conglomerate with a
strong presence in aviation, outbound travel,
and destination management, will play a pivotal
role in backing the rugby team's journey.
The Josephian rugby team has built a proud
legacy of excellence and sportsmanship over
recent years, and as they prepare for another
competitive season, expectations are high. The

Ads returns as the Social Media Partner, helping
to expand the reach of the team's presence on
digital platforms.
The Josephian rugby team, led by captain
Janith Marasinghe, is all set for a competitive
2025 season under the guidance of new coach
Dulanjana Wijesinghe. A former hooker for
Wesley, Navy, and Sri Lanka, Wijesinghe will be
assisted by former Peterite and Havelocks fly-
half Lakala Perera.
In recent years, St. Joseph's College has
produced outstanding rugby players who have
made the school proud. Players like Stephan
Gregory, Dhanushka Perera, Vimukthi Rahula,
Gemunu Chethiya, Naveen Marasinghe, and
Jason Melder have set high standards for the
team, and with the support of their experienced
coaching staff, the Josephian rugby team is
ready to continue its proud legacy.
