Rooftop Solar: A Reliable and Rapid Solution
Unlike large-scale projects that face delays due to land acquisition, environmental assessments, and financial hurdles,
otop Solar is rapidly deployable. In 2024 alone, our sector added 500MW to the grid, representing 5% of national
demand-an achievement difficult for large-scale projects to match in such a short time.
A Plea for Sustainable Development
While large-scale renewable energy remains essential, rooftop solar provides unique benefits: efficient land use, grid
stability, community participation, and sustainable economic growth.
Our Urgent Requests
The SIA urges the government and relevant authorities to:
1. Conduct a transparent and independent investigation into the recent power failure.
2. Consider the broader economic and social benefits of rooftop solar in tariff revisions.
3. Establish a stable and predictable policy framework to ensure long-term investments.
4. Recognize rooftop solar as a critical component of Sri Lanka's renewable energy strategy.
We remain committed to working with the government to ensure a sustainable and prosperous future for Sri Lanka's
rooftop solar industry.
